The designer's own home, a 1954 mid-century contemporary abode, kept its charm in the kitchen by using the original metal cabinets, hardware and Formica laminate, complete with the original turquoise boomerang pattern. The initial concept was to install granite on the countertops and backsplashes but the uniqueness of this room set the stage for the color palette, continued in various areas throughout the house.
